Yes, that's right! Women's Professional Soccer is coming back to Philadelphia in 2010 and Coleraine Design is assisting.

Team owner David Halstead selected us to build their web presence and help launch the new franchise a full year before they begin play. We took the time to assess all of their needs for the launch of the site and built a site that is rich in content including featured news about the franchise, video feeds from WPS, ticketing, biographies on the coaching staff and front office, as well as many other features.

But that's not all. We're continuing to work with the team to manage their content going forward and assisting with the online strategy so that they can maximize their exposure to the local community and the world. We're happy to be a part of the team and are certainly enjoying this project! We do love soccer you know!

Dating back to 1914, the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup is the oldest cup competition in United States soccer and is among the oldest in the world. Open to all affiliated amateur and professional teams in the United States, the annual U.S. Open Cup is entering it’s 95th tournament in 2008.

In a nutshell, the U.S. Open Cup is very similar to domestic cup competitions popular throughout Europe, South America and the rest of the world. Cup competitions, which usually run concurrent with a country’s league season, are open in the early stages to any club that can qualify, giving local amateur teams a chance to compete against the best teams a country has to offer.

The Philadelphia Independence is proud to announce the introduction of its new Team Independence Youth Development Program and Club Affiliate Program, marking the emergence of one of the most comprehensive soccer youth systems in the United States. The Team Independence Youth Development Program is a multi-faceted system that gives Delaware Valley region players and teams the best opportunity for top performance in their sport. Team Independence, an important and integrated business directorate within the Philadelphia Independence women’s pro soccer team, is developing what will be a vast network of boys and girls teams, camps, clinics, and training services. “By continually refining and building this pro team component, and strengthening it with professional team resources,” says General Manager Terry Foley, “we have created a Team Independence Youth Development Program that is unparalleled and will become the industry standard for performance excellence in the world of soccer youth development.”

Sometimes chance encounters amount to something wonderful. Such is the case with the story behind the website for Major Leagues Soccer's 16th franchise which begins play in 2010. If you happen to have time, ask one of the partners how this site came about. You'll enjoy it, trust us.

When the site was conceived it was originally modeled after other sports websites. However, after carful consideration of the needs of the client and keen awareness of the long lead time before the team actually played a game, we change gears and built a very robust site built on the ExpressionEngine CMS Platform. The site has minimal flash but instead focuses on the stories and news generated by the dedicated staff and writers of the site.

Just like a sports team, the site will change over time and eventually will morph into the full sports portal that it needs to be. With careful consideration of the future, we designed the site to scale accordingly and anticipate this to be a very popular destination for the fans of the franchise.

Upper Moreland Soccer Club

Don't tell anyone but a few members of Coleraine Design are partial to the OTHER football. Yes, fellow Americans, that means soccer. More importantly, their dedication to youth development through soccer is an important part of who they are.

That intense dedication was refocused into the Upper Moreland Soccer Club website. While the previous site, which was managed as a solo project by one of our partners, was aesthetically pleasing and informative it didn't provide the necessary functionality needed to really assist club member and kids in finding the information they really needed. We took the original visual cues form the previous site and applied them to the newly developed site based on WordPress.

Now, members have quick access to all the information the club puts out. As a further enhancement, we implemented links to the clubs Flickr account, Viddler video sharing, as well as other interactive elements. The new site is a major improvement over the previous iteration and, we hope, becomes the envy of all the other youth clubs in the area.
